LASTMA warns against speeding, rescues 2 accident victims

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in a swift response to a multi-vehicle accident on Tuesday in Lagos, rescued two victims, a male and female.

The General Manager, LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed this in a statement in Lagos.

The statement was signed by Mr Taofiq Adebayo, LASTMA Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department.

Bakare-Oki said the accident took place at the New Garage by Odo Iya-Alaro area of Ojota, Lagos.

Bakare-Oki who led the team with other emergency responders said that the accident occurred around 3.00 a.m.

He said that it involved a Volkswagen commercial bus loaded with vegetables and a containerised vehicle that had crashed into a Jersey barrier.

He added that the two victims trapped in the accident were successfully rescued by LASTMA and other emergency responders.

He said the victims were immediately transported to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

“The accident was particularly alarming due to the ongoing rehabilitation work on the Odo Iya-Alaro bridge,” Bakare-Oki said.
He urged all motorists, including commercial bus drivers, to avoid speeding during their journeys within or outside Lagos.(NAN)
