Gunmen have kidnapped a former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Uche Nwosu.
Nwosu, a son-in-law to former Governor Rochas Okorocha, was whisked away by the abductors who dressed in security uniform at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama in Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
Unconfirmed reports say the heavily-armed gunmen stormed the church with high-powered security vehicles. They shot sporadically into the air, put Uche Nwosu in the back of their vehicle before taking him away.
The development created panic in the community as it was the outing service of his late mother who was laid to rest on Wednesday 22nd December 2021.
Sources at the event claim that the scenario also looked like an arrest by high-powered security operatives.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Mike Abatam, noted that he doesn’t have the details about the incident yet but would brief the public once he gets more information.(Channels TV)
