‘Nigerians see pigeons’ refusal to fly at Armed Forces remembrance as ominous

Nigerians, on Friday, reacted to a viral video of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), releasing some pigeons in celebration of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

The pigeons were released from a birdcage by Buhari with the expectation that they will fly away immediately.   However, the pigeons refused to take off as they remained in the birdcage to the disappointment of the President who left the scene after failed efforts to get them to fly away.

Reacting to the video, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, said, “They needed masks.”

One Twitter user, @Maziokafor said, “Just wait and see, they will blame the inability of the pigeons to fly on either the sellers of the pigeons or the opposition for trying to make the President look bad. The blame game must continue. Someone has to take the blame.”

Another Twitter user, @xyzreddington said, “This is a bad sign. If I remember my Bible story correctly, after the flood, Noah sent out pigeons and when they came back it meant the earth was still flooded. I wonder what this means for Nigeria.”

@TundeTammy_Disu said, “This might be funny but really it is ominous. A bad one at that. Remember Trump months ago trying to pet a bald eagle and how the eagle reacted to him. Look at where Trump is now.”

One Akilu Abdul Kinging on Facebook said, “This is a clear proof that peace has left our country. Oh God intervene and have mercy on us.”
