The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Maritime Police Command, Alkali Baba Usama will on Thursday June 7, 2018 pay a working visit to the National Headquarters of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), 2A Maybin Road, GRA Apapa, Lagos.
A statement signed by Stanley Ezenga, NAGAFF Publicity Secretary said the working visit which is being undertaken is in continuation of the AIG’s effort to meet with the critical stakeholders with a view to ensuring responsible partnership in the general security and safety of the ports, people and the environ. “Accordingly, all members of NAGAFF and the media practitioners are duly invited to receive our amiable friend. It is on record that NAGAFF has been exceptionally the most responsible partners of the various Government Agencies and parasatals detailed to oversee ports operations and management. You will recall that the Comptroller General of Customs, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council and the Director General of Standards Organisation of Nigeria had earlier paid similar official visit to NAGAFF Headquarters.
“It is the expectation of NAGAFF that the AIG shall be presented with various matters connected to corruption in the ports, access in and out of the ports and various breaches of Ports Orders. Others shall include the ongoing harassment, intimidation and extortion of money from the practitioners along the city road of Lagos by various agents of Government in the course of our duty. Moreso, the incessant blocking of containers through the shipping companies manifest by unauthorized Government Agencies. All National Officers, Chapter Executives and members should be in our dress code as professionals. Meanwhile, other Associations; ANLCA, NCMDLCA, AREFF, NAFFAC etc., are hereby invited,” the statement said
