The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has said the police would recruit 155,000 personnel within five years to bridge the gap of manpower shortage in the organisation.
Idris, who made the disclosure Friday in Kano while briefing newsmen at Government House Kano, said 31,000 personnel would be recruited every year.
He said the Nigeria Police Force was faced with serious shortage of manpower, noting that between 2011 and 2016, the Force had not recruited ranks and files personnel.
He said: “We have serious gap of manpower but the Force is determined to bridge the gap. We want make the Force to work according to the standards of the United Nations chatter of one police man to 400 people.”
He said the Police would continue to support other security agencies to ensure the security of lives and properties of the citizenry. (Daily Trust)
