Senate passes Bill to aid ease of doing business

The Nigerian Senate has passed the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill, 2017 (SB. 257) after it was read for the third time.

The development was sequel to the adoption of a Report of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment on Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill, as laid on the floor of the Senate during plenary on Thursday by Senator Fatima Raji-Rasaki.

Reacting on the development during the plenary on Thursday, Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu thanked the lawmakers who worked on the Bill, saying: “This is a bill that will aid the ease of doing business.”

He added that on the Bill, Nigeria has been found wanting regarding the aspect of doing business and this bill is set to cover it.
