Aviation Analyst and Consultant, Mr. Chris Aligbe yesterday hailed move by Med-View Airline to commence Dubai routes, urging the Federal Government to support the carrier and others like it flying the country’s flag abroad.
He said government should begin to see the need to integrate the carriers into the economy as done by other countries.
Med-View Airline PLC said it would commence the Lagos-Dubai direct flight on July 4 which would be the second international flight to be launched by the airline after London – Gatwick which entered its route network on November 20, 2015.
This is expected to enhance competition on the route as Nigerians travelling to Dubai would have credible alternative.
Nigerians are the most frequent African visitors to Dubai for businesses, leisure and shopping.
Presently only Emirates Airlines and Etihad operate direct flight to Dubai while other carriers which ply the Dubai route from Nigeria including RwandAir, Kenya Airways, Ethiopia, among others transit through their home countries.
Speaking with Daily Trust in Lagos, Aligbe who is the CEO of Belujane Konsult, said it is very heartwarming that Med-View is starting the route after some airlines entered it and failed in the past.
