A Network and Security expert, Adekunle Adeniji, has advised youths and young entrepreneurs to use social media platforms to build brands other than just chatting away with friends.
Adeniji said that in the past, social media platforms were seen as tools for connecting with friends and loved ones but present trend has revealed that it can serve better purposes, one of which is to help start-ups and enhance business growth.
Speaking at the just concluded Free Revolutionising Technologies seminar organised byBroadband Today, an online web blog, in partnership with Priority Communications Limited and The Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce, Adeniji said: “Data available shows that an average person spends about 4-6 hours online daily scrolling, double clicking, tweeting, facebooking and a whole lot of other things, when there are better things they could do with their time with such platforms.”
“All over the world, people who understand the real purpose of social media know that other than just engage in it with unprofitable ventures, they can use it to grow businesses.
“My advice to Nigerian youths is that they should take advantage of social media platforms to grow small or existing businesses which in the long run will not only profit the society but will profit humanity,” Adeniji said, adding that the available statistics provide a reassurance that staying online can be very beneficial to any start-up.
