Imo Airport Fire incident: FAAN assures passengers of safety

Following the fire incident that destroyed part of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State on Monday, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), said the situation is under control and assured passengers of safety as normal operations has since began.

A statement signed by Henrietta Yakubu , General Manager, Corporate Affairs  said that FAAN  wishes to inform passengers and the general public that there was a fire incident that affected some parts of the terminal building of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri at about 1400hours monday.

According to her, the fire was however curtailed swiftly by officers of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN, adding, “There was no casualty and normal operations has since resumed at the airport. “

“The Authority has commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident,” the statement added.
